Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A tangible in temperatures is expected on Tuesday, creating cold weather conditions with low clouds and a chance for light showers across the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
A wet and cold air mass accompanied by a depression centered over western Cyprus will start affecting the country at night. Therefore, clouds at various altitudes will build up in many regions with rainfall in the northern and central areas. Winds will be strongly picking up reaching 50-60 km/h, stirring dust and causing low visibility in the desert , the JMD added.
Daytime temperatures forecast for today in Amman and the northern cities will reach 16 degrees Celsius dropping down to 5 at night, while it will range between a high of 14 degrees Celsius in the southern regions and a low of 3 degrees Celsius. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 25 degrees and lows standing at 13, the JMD noted.
The impact of the depression will continue on Wednesday pushing mercury levels down and bringing heavy rain that might be accompanied by thunder and hail in some areas, forming floods in the valleys and the lowlands. Winds will be strongly picking up reaching 60-70 km/h and blowing dust in the desert regions, the department further said.
Temperatures will further on Thursday, bringing chilly and cloudy conditions with rainfall in many regions that may turn heavy accompanied with hail and thunder at times forming floods in valleys and lowlands including Aqaba.
Showers of snow are also expected Thursday evening in the highlands and areas located1000 meters above sea level, with wind speeds exceeding 80 kilometers per hour and blowing dust in the desert areas, the JMD added.
