Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - In response to news related to Jordanians in Israeli prisons, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs confirmed that it is closely following up on the situation of Jordanians in Israeli prisons, and that this issue is a top priority.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Foreign ministry spokesperson, Sufian Qudah, said the ministry is in a constant contact with families of Jordanians in Israeli prisons, stressing the ministry's keenness to reassure them and keep them up to date on their situation and its efforts in this regard.
Qudah affirmed that visits of families of detainees still ongoing and haven't been stopped, especially in the recent period, noting that the most recent visit, arranged by the ministry, was for the father of Mohammad Mahdi Suleiman on January 16. This visit was preceded by multiple ones in previous years
The ministry is currently arranging a visit to Abdullah Abu Jaber after receiving a request from his family, Qudah added.
He indicated that Jordan's Embassy in Tel Aviv, with the Ministry's directions, is constantly working to follow up on the situation of Jordanians in Israeli prisons and constantly communicating with them, and also follows up with Israeli authorities on matters related to their situation, especially their health conditions, in addition to those related to their imprisonment.
The ministry also calls for improving those conditions and ensure fair trials and treatment in accordance with international conventions, the spokesperson concluded.
