Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - President of the Senate, Faisal Fayez, and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Thursday stressed the "deep-rooted" relations between Jordan and Kuwait, especially in the economic, social, and parliamentary fields.
During the meeting, the two sides underscored the importance of maintaining joint coordination, working together to achieve the Arab peoples' interests, and protecting their just causes.
The discussions also tackled current issues in the region, including the Syrian crisis, and the Palestinian cause.
On the Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations, Fayez said they are "historic," based on mutual respect, and "strategic," in which His Majesty King Abdullah and the Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheik Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah are keen to develop.
On pan-Arab solidarity, Fayez said: "Our Arab nation is going through numerous crises and conflicts, and we, in these tough circumstances, are in dire need to stand together in counter all attempts trying to undermine our security and stability."
He said Jordan rejects intervention in the affairs of the Arab Gulf states, adding His Majesty considers peace and security in the Arab Gulf region "an integral part of Jordan's peace and security."
As for Jordan-Gulf ties, he stressed the necessity to set up a long-term strategy for economic, political and security cooperation between Jordan and the Arab Gulf states to preserve joint peace and security and enable them to face different challenges, noting Jordan is closely working with Kuwait to restore regional peace and security and eradicate terrorism and extremism.
For his part, Al-Ghanim expressed his pride in the high level of relations between the two countries in all fields.
He lauded Jordan's stance to host Syrian refugees despite the economic challenges it is facing and said "Kuwait will always stand by the Kingdom."
