Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II said Monday that he recognized the efforts of Sharia court judges in achieving justice and protecting the rights of the public, highlighting the work of the Islamic courts in handling a large number of cases.

Speaking as he welcomed Chief Justice Sheikh Abdul Karim Al Khasawneh and President of the Higher Sharia Court, Judge Kamal Smadi, who handed him a copy of the annual report on the status of the Sharia courts, the King stressed that the ultimate goal of all state institutions should be to serve the public at ease.

The Chief Justice briefed the King on the most important achievements included in the report, notably the establishment of the Higher Sharia Court, the number of cases handled by the Sharia Courts and the role of the Judicial Institute in developing the judiciary through the training of judges.

He also spoke about challenges facing the courts and the need to find solutions to them "in a manner that reflects positively on improving their performance".

Khasawneh also referred to the important role of the family reform offices in safeguarding social security, reducing disputes and the disintegration of the family, and holding guidance courses for families and prospective couples.

The Chief Justice also said that the alimony fund began its work in August last year to preserve the rights of women and children, pointing out that the electronic family card was issued to enable the prevailing party, most of them women, to collect the amounts ordered through ATMs.

The meeting was attended by the Royal Court Chief and the King's advisor and director of his office.
