Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Javier Tebas, the president of the Spanish League La Liga, said he believes that Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain F.C. (PSG) overvalued its contracts with companies of Qatari origin and should be excluded from the Champions League.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Tebas was asked if Real Madrid and FC Barcelona asked La Liga to go after PSG.
“No, never, no club asked me. When we warned that we were going to denounce the PSG, at that time there was no question of Neymar's recruitment. Our initiative is earlier. In fact, we believe that this type of club endangers the stability of professional football in Europe,” he said.
But Tebas added that it seems difficult for the club to be excluded from the league given that its owner has close ties with beIN Sports channels.
“Any club that tries to override UEFA's financial fair play with the help of sponsors that are not real endangers the stability of European football. All this has provoked an inflation of the market, it is objective data. Because the other big clubs need money to be able to face the phenomenon of clubs-countries,” Tebas added.
Tebas said that the Investigatory Chamber of UEFA stated that PSG should correct its sponsorship to match the value of the market, which clearly means that they cheated.
“I hope that decisions will be taken in accordance with the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.,” he said.
