Two arrested for selling artefacts

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Russeifa Preventive Security Department personnel arrested two suspects who were found in possession of a number of artefacts, the Public Security Department (PSD) said Saturday.

The PSD spokesperson, Colonel Amer Sartawi, said officers responded to a tip-off about a man who was showcasing artefacts for sale for around JD15.000.

Security agents stopped the suspect's vehicle and arrested two individuals in possession of three statues, and 16 old coins, and two aretefacts believed to antiquities.

"An investigation was initiated and the seized items were sent to the General Department of Antiquities to find out whether they were fabricated or of historical value," the spokesperson added.
