AND foils attempt to smuggle 50,000 narcotic pills

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel foiled last week an attempt to smuggle 50,000 of narcotic pills, seized 100,000 others hidden in a desert area and arrested 10 drug dealers and promoters, a security source said.
"The AND personnel followed up an on information about a person preparing quantities of narcotic pills for smuggling through a cargo vehicle," the source added, noting that 50,000 pills were found after searching the vehicle.
The AND personnel also received an earlier tip-off about a huge quantity of drugs hidden in desert valleys in Ruweished area, where a large bag containing 100,000 narcotic pills were found.
In Amman, a drug promoter was arrested with 2,400 illegal tablets and other quantities of narcotic substances in his possession prepared for sale.
In the Mafraq Governorate, another drug dealer with weapons and ammunition in his possession was arrested after the AND received information about his involvement in the sale of quantities of narcotic substances.
The source said that investigation began with the suspects before transferring them to the State Security Court's prosecutor General.
