King: Citizens entitled to receive high-quality, facilitated services

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday said citizens are entitled to access high-quality public services under facilitated procedures and emphasized that the public should be kept abreast of the delivery of projects, especially in the public transport sector, carried out by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM).

During a visit to the GAM premises in downtown Amman, the King was briefed on progress made towards the delivery of plan and projects aimed at enhancing public services, particularly those pertaining to e-transformation and public transport.

During the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, King Abdullah underlined the need that the public feels the change achieved through the e-transformation project and electronic services and procedures.

The King underlined that the e-transformation program will boost citizens' confidence in public service and called for expediting the implementation of GAM's plans and programs.

With regard to improving the business-doing environment in the capital, His Majesty underscored the need to formulate a comprehensive plan to develop services and infrastructures in eastern and southern Amman.

GAM Mayor, Yousef Shawarbeh, briefed the King on the progress made on GAM projects, noting the GAM future plans.

He noted that the GAM has purchased 135 busses to boost public transport using JD16.5 million of the JD45 million budget for buss purchases within a plan that will be completed in 2020.

With regard to the completion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and the Amman-Zarqa BRT project, the Mayor pointed out that GAM will float a JD136 million tender before the end of this year for the work on the infrastructure of the project.

On the other hand, Shawarbeh said that the e-transformation project is expected to restructure procedures and automate 187 services by the end of 2020.

The visit was attended by the Chief of the Royal Court, the King's Advisor, the Director of His Majesty's Office, the King's Advisor for Economic Affairs, the State Minister for Investment Affairs, the Deputy of the Mayor of Amman and the City Manager.
