Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A British tourist in Dubai who amassed AED 175,000 ($47,651) worth of fines in just three hours after driving a rented supercar, and made headlines last week for being stranded in the emirate, has finally agreed to pay the money.

While on vacation, Farah Hashi, an unemployed father-of-one, rented a Lamborghini Huracan and drove it at speeds of up to 230kph, breaking the limit 33 times.

He got a speeding ticket on every camera on Sheikh Zayed Road, the longest road in the UAE.

His brother, in interviews with British media, had said that Hashi was unable to pay the money because he was unemployed. Hashi claimed to have not known the speeding laws.

On Thursday, Mohammed Ibrahim, who runs Saeed Ali Rent a Car, from which Hashi rented the vehicle, told Abu Dhabi-based The National that he had reached an agreement with Hashi.

He said he will be able to collect his car after Mr Hashi, who has been forced to extend his stay in the emirate by more than a week, agreed to pay a discounted sum of just over AED 117,000, according to The National.

The discount was agreed on by officials, Ibrahim told the newspaper.
