Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that following the vehicle explosion that took place yesterday evening when gendarmerie and public security personnel were taking part in a joint patrol in the area Fuheis, the competent authorities, that opened an investigation into the incident and collected evidence from the scene, concluded that the explosion was caused by an "improvised explosive device."
The statement pointed out that the investigations indicated that the explosive device was planted underneath the spot where the vehicle was supposed to park, before arriving at the area where the security personnel were supposed to perform their normal duty at the festival Fuheis, adding that the explosion killed Sergeant Ali Adnan Qogazeh and wounded six members of the patrol including four gendarmerie personnel and two public security members.
The statement stressed that this cowardly act will increase the insistence and determination of the security services to carry out their sacred duty to protect citizens and their properties.
It said that the security services will track down the perpetrators and counter any attempt to tamper with the country's security.
"The Jordanian security services, in cooperation with the armed forces, will always remain the guardian of Jordan's security and will continue to protect the homeland with determination and relentless efforts under the leadership of His Majesty the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces," the statement concluded.
