Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Jumana Ghneimat, condemned in the strongest terms the ongoing Israeli violations and provocations against Al-Aqsa Mosque/ Al Haram al-Sharif compound, especially the provocative incursions of extremists and settlers that took place today into the courtyards of the holy site.

Ghneimat, who is also the Government Spokesperson, said those " condemned and rejected" practices, which are conducted under protection of the Israeli police, violate the sanctity of this holy place, provoke sentiments of worshipers and Muslims all over the world, and constitute a violation of Israel's obligations as an occupying power under int'l and int'l humanitarian laws.

The minister affirmed those practices also breach all int'l norms and charters, which stress the need to respect the places of worship for all religions.

The minister spurred Israel, as an occupying power, to respect the historical and legal situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque and revere the holy site's Jerusalem Awqaf (Endowment) as the the legitimate administration authority there.

Ghneimat said the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv presented a diplomatic petition to the Israeli Foreign Ministry this morning expressing the Kingdom's strong condemnation over those violations, and called on their immediate halt.
