Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Swiss Foreign Affairs Minister Ignazio Cassis on Sunday opened the new premises of the Swiss embassy in Abdoun area, west of Amman.
In a speech during the ceremony, Cassis said: "Jordan plays a very important role in the Middle East beset by many conflicts, but despite the challenges and difficulties, Jordan has always been stable and a trusted partner of Switzerland." "With the inauguration of the new building of the Swiss embassy, we also emphasize excellent bilateral relations as a basis for our close cooperation in the future," he added.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 200 representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, a number of Jordanian officials, businessmen and civil society.
With the increasing activity of the Swiss Embassy in Jordan as well as in the region, the Embassy has in recent years significantly increased its staff thanks to the stability of the Kingdom, its well-trained workforce, good infrastructure and central location in the Middle East, according to a statement issued by the statement.
The Kingdom is an important center of Swiss foreign policy in the region, the statement added.
It emphasized the commitment of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs to maintain and even expand its activities in Jordan and the Middle East by relocating its employees in Amman to a larger facility.
