Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received a delegation from a U.S center involved in the Middle East peace process studies.
The meeting at the Husseiniya Palace touched on international efforts to reinvigorate the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks and the need to realize a just and comprehensive solution on the basis of the two-state solution conducive to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
"The issue of Jerusalem must be settled within a final status issue framework", the King told the visiting delegation.
Jordan, King Abdullah reiterated, would continue its historic role in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites out of the Hashemite Custodianship over these sacred places.
The meeting, moreover, tackled the role of the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the need to sustain its education and health services to the refugees.
Discussions also dealt with the Kingdom's support for global endeavors and initiatives to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria in accordance with the Geneva process in a bid to bring about peace and security to the war-ravaged Arab country.
Middle East crises and efforts to solve them were also reviewed during the meeting which was attended by the advisor to His Majesty and the director of the King's Office.
