13-11-2017 04:29 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan and Egypt on Sunday looked into efforts to relaunch Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

At a meeting in Amman, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri discussed efforts exerted to end the Palestinian divide and reach reconciliation, which creates the necessary environment to resume peace talks.

Such peace talks, they said, should lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with east Jerusalem as its capital.

In this regard, Safadi stressed on the role played by Egypt in reaching a Palestinian reconciliation. Discussions also covered developments in the Middle East.

Also Sunday, King Abdullah II of Jordan received Shukri who presented him a letter from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on ties and the need for continued coordination.

King Abdullah stressed on the importance of continued solidarity and coordination among the Arabs to stand up to challenges in the region.

Discussions also shed light on the need for political solutions to regional crises.
