Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki on Sunday said that the government is currently studying a proposed project to build a new city outside Amman in a bid to find solutions to the transport problem, ease off traffic jams and high population density in many parts of the capital.
Speaking to presidents of public and private universities, the prime minister said the proposed strategic project is part of the government's efforts to stimulate economic growth and attract quality investments, adding that the venture will be provide a major investment opportunity for the private sector.
Al-Mulki noted that the city will be built on public land and surrounded with public lands. He emphasized that all plans strategies must aim to ensure a better future for citizens and next generations.
Al Mulki reviewed economic challenges facing Jordan as a result of several internal and external factors, pointing out that reforms have become urgent and "We do not have the luxury of time."
He also spoke about the government's measures with regard to reducing debt, achieving growth, sales and income tax reform and controlling prices.
