Momani meets social media activists

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said Saturday that abiding by the law should be a "fundamental part of our citizenship", and that breaking the law should be socially criminalized.

Momani, who is also the official government spokesman, spoke at a meeting with social media activists, which, he said, is in line with the government's policy of reaching out to all influential social groups and institutions to discuss domestic and regional issues and their impact on the Kingdom.

He said the government, through its action plans, acts on many fronts to carry out comprehensive reforms, top of which is administrative reform, enshrining rule of law, rectifying the labour market to absorb larger numbers of local workers to combat unemployment and provide a decent living for all.

Commenting on fiscal and economic reform, the minister stressed the need to meet key strategic goals of the national economy, top of which is self-reliance, which is attainable when reaching a stage where government expenditures and revenues are equal, and by "exiting the tunnel of recurrent borrowing which exacerbates indebtedness".

He said the package of measures the government took last year and began implementing this year had helped to maintain the debt-to-GDP ratio.

The minister also said "we are being targeted in our values via social media from outside, and from within by a few, who are misled by certain practices via social networks", adding that "disseminating frustration is dangerous and can an environment for those ill-advised to break the law".
