Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs, Mohammad Momani, Tuesday, said that information and figures being circulated on amendments of the "Income Law" were only proposals and currently being studied by competent departments related to the Finance Ministry.
He told Petra that this suggestion and any other proposals had not yet been discussed either by the Cabinet or the Economic Development Committee.
These proposals, the minister added, would be presented to the Ministerial Economic Team presided by the Prime Minister before proceeding for debate by the relevant panels through the course of the legislative approval process.
It is noteworthy that the proposed suggestions to the 2014 Income Law come in response to the Senate's request to amend the bill when it was passed. The bill entered into force in January 2015 within the framework of comprehensive economic reform plans being reviewed by the government.
"Any discussions on the law should take into account promoting the protection of the middle class families and their living conditions", said the minister who is also the government spokesman.
Media outlets had published the suggestions to the Income Law without mentioning they are one of the various scenarios put forward by the Ministry of Finance to reform the tax system.
