29-07-2017 05:41 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - HRH Prince Hassan, president of the Arab Thought Forum (ATF) on Saturday attended a panel titled “Arab Solidarity and Crisis Management: A Future Vision”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the panel, the prince said that achieving Arab solidarity should be based on an objective knowledge base that supports the formulation of sustainable policies within clear programmes and priorities.

He added that the current situation of division and separation in the region requires more harmony between the countries’ visions.

Prince Hassan called for a new structure for the “Arab East” and the Levantine region, which would be based on symbiotic independence for each nation, with common priorities that respect the national sovereignty of each country, economic unity and a collective Arab identity.

In this regard, he stressed the need to establish a regional socialeconomic council.

Prince Hassan stressed the importance of “enhancing free thinking and innovating patterns of thinking, working and behaving for a renaissance and development movement in the region.”

He also called for developing concrete mechanisms to protect places of worship and worshippers from any violations and assaults, and called for establishing a foundation to support Jerusalem, its residents and their safety.

For his part, ATF Secretary General Mohammad Abu Hammour said that the panel discussions focused on the common values that enhance Arab solidarity in the present and the future.

To conclude the session, the attendees called for investing all available human resources capital, with a special focus on young people, with the aim of combating poverty and unemployment as a priority. They also called for developing Islamic financing since “the current global financing system has failed to preserve humanistic values”.
