King chairs meeting to follow up on plans to develop transport sector

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II chaired a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace on Wednesday to check on the government's plans to develop the public transport sector in the kingdom, and implement a plan to stimulate the economy.

During the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki and other officials, the King said that transport is a key sector that cannot be neglected as it affects the life of each citizen and has a major impact on the national economy.

His Majesty stressed the importance of developing the transport sector in the Kingdom as the decline of services in this sector has started to reflect negatively on citizens.

He also highlighted the need for concerted efforts by all ministries and departments concerned with developing the transport sector and achieving a qualitative development in this field.

The King said that priority should be given to executive measures as well as legislation needed for this purpose.

"The burden facing citizen to reach his work or home due to the absence of a public transport system is unacceptable," he said, stressing the importance of having modern legislation that conform with technological development in this field.

King Abdullah also called for the implementation of the economic stimulus plan regarding the process of developing the public transport sector.

Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki said the transport sector is a top priority that needs a lot of efforts to develop. He added that the government was committed to implementing the economic stimulus plan to develop this vital sector.
