Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Monday met a delegation representing friends of Jordan group at the European Parliament led by Michael Gahler, in the presence of Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maayteh and State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani.
During the meeting, Mulki discussed with the delegation ties of friendship and partnership between Jordan and the European Union.
The prime minister highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and the EU as well as keenness to further boost them in various fields.
He spoke about the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which is hosting 1.3 million Syrian refugees, who are placing an increasing burden on the health, education and water sectors.
"Jordan is hosting Syrian refugees on behalf of the international community which should provide support to the Kingdom to enable it to continue basic services to host communities of those refugees," Mulki added.
The prime minister told the delegation that Jordan is focusing on enhancing economic growth and the participation of the private sector in the development process, attracting more investments into the Kingdom and increasing support to Jordan.
Mulki also reviewed the current situation in the Middle East, stressing the need to bring back the Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiating table to arrive at a just and permanent peace based on the two-state solution, and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The delegation voiced appreciation of Jordan's role to enhance security and stability in the region as well as its role in serving the refugees.
