Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh led heads and members of parliamentary blocs and committees on a tour of the military zone along the Kingdom's eastern border, where they met commanders of various units.
The eastern zone commander, Brig. Mohammad Bani Yassin, briefed the lawmakers about the various tasks of the border guard and troops in controlling the frontier and preventing infiltration and smuggling attempts through operating patrols and electronic surveillance.
He said the armed forces are capable of dealing with any threats, noting the readiness and high morale of troops as they stand to defend the country's borders and safeguard national security and stability.
Tarawneh said the visit was to support the armed forces and boost their morale, expressing his pride in the efforts of the military forces on the eastern frontier. A key task of the eastern military zone troops is to secure medical services and access of relief aid for refugees in the Rukban refugee camp, which houses about 70,000 people.
