Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) Monday announced it has seized a wood shipment with high levels of radioactive contamination.

Radiological examination of imported pine wood shipment revealed excess levels of the unpermitted radioactive contamination, EMRC Chairman Farouq Heyari said .

The shipment was returned to its country of origin, in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, Heyari explained.

EMRC Plays the main role in the regulatory framework related to Jordan electricity sector through many duties and responsibilities including issuing sector regulation (Codes, instructions, directives), determining electricity tariffs and connection charges and participating in setting the technical and environmental standards in the Kingdom.
