Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Thursday, received Vice Premier of the Chinese State Council Liu Yandong and the accompanying delegation in the presence of a number of ministers, officials and the Chinese ambassador to Jordan.

The prime minister highlighted the importance of the meeting which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Jordan and China.

He said the meeting comes to discuss means to further boost political, economic and trade ties between the two countries, regional and international developments as well as ways of addressing address common challenges.

These challenges, he said, affirm the need to benefit from opportunities available and further promote trade and investment relations between the two countries.

Mulki voiced thanks and appreciation for the Chinese government for supporting the shale oil project which is implemented by a consortium of international companies including Chinese.

He also welcomed an expected visit to Jordan by a Chinese businessmen delegation over the coming days, adding the visit will enhance economic ties between the two sides.

The prime minister also reviewed the political, economic and security challenges facing the Kingdom due to the current situation in the region and their impact on Jordan, mainly the Syrian refugee crisis. He also pointed to Jordan's efforts under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to reach a just and comprehensive solution o the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Chinese official praised the development process and stability that Jordan enjoys despite the situation the region, adding that China has provided humanitarian aid to Jordan to help it shoulder the responsibility of hosting Syrian refugees.

"Jordan and China agree on the need to find political solutions to conflicts in the region through peaceful means and dialogue," she added.

Yandong said trade exchange between the two countries rose from $710 million to $3.170 billion, noting that 20 Chinese companies are currently operating in Jordan in the infrastructure and energy projects.

A number of ministers, who attended the meeting, also spoke about joint cooperation between Jordan and China.
