The participants also criticized the Jordanian government, which had described the US’ attack as a “necessary and suitable” reaction. The US Navy fired on Thursday 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles from two destroyers in the Mediterranean Sea against Shayrat Airbase in the central Syrian province of Homs. Washington justified the attack by alleging that chemical weapons were launched from that airfield during Tuesday’s attack against the northern district of Khan Sheikhoun, where at least 80 civilians were killed.
