Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - European Union (EU) High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, on Monday, said EU countries have no intention of moving their embassies to Jerusalem, while rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of the possibility of moving his country's embassy to the Holy City.
On the sidelines of the EU Foreign Ministers 27th meeting in Luxembourg, Mogherini met with Arab League's Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and said the EU and its member states will not move their embassies to Jerusalem. "We will not welcome any decision in this direction," the EU foreign policy chief added, referring to Trump's announcement of the possibility of moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
She noted that the European position regarding the possibility of moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem fully meets the position of the Arab League and the international community. "We adhere to the resolutions of the UN Security Council," Mogherini affirmed.
With regard to the Middle East peace process, Mogherini stressed said the bloc shares the same approach with the Arab League, which is the two-state solution and negotiations between the two parties within a regional and international framework, especially within the framework of the Arab Peace Initiative In this regard.
