Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Council of Ministers Sunday endorsed the 2017 control and inspection of economic activities draft legislation, which unifies inspection references and limits duplicity and overlap in the powers of official entities, to improve the business environment in the country.
The legislation, approved at a session chaired by Prime Minister Hani Mulki, aims to upgrade the economic inspection practice to positively reflect on the investment environment in the Kingdom and defines the authority of official entities in the inspection process.
The new law, which was adopted after consultation with all relevant sectors for four years, has been a long-standing demand by the trade, industry and service sectors, which had for long complained of multiple inspection references that affected the progress of work.
Under the draft legislation, which would also ensure effective and transparent inspection through applying best practices, a higher committee to develop inspection will be formed, chaired by the minister of industry and trade, and also includes relevant entities and private sector representatives as members.
The panel will serve as a "national umbrella" to put forward inspection policies and coordinate among the inspection entities.
