Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A draft resolution on the Palestinian issue that was adopted by permanents representatives of the Arab League and top officials on Saturday, praised efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to defend and protect the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The draft resolution hailed Jordan's role in safeguarding and protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem within the Hashemite custodianship of the holy place in the city.
It also praised the efforts of the Moroccan King Mohammad VI, who is also the head of the Jerusalem Committee.
The draft resolution reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian issue for the Arab nation, the Arab identity of East Jerusalem and the sovereignty of the State of Palestine on all Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.
It also affirmed the commitment of Arab states to the Arab Peace Initiative and urged the international community to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2334 which affirmed that the Israeli settlements constitute a flagrant violation of the international law, and urged Israel to stop all settlement activities in the Palestinian lands.
The draft resolution welcomed Jordan's presidency of the 28th Arab summit as well as efforts to rally support for resolutions related to the Palestinian issue at the UN.
