Amman hosts program on democracy, transparency

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A training program on promoting democracy and transparency in government administration kicked off in Amman on Monday to look into the best ways of cooperation among public institutions.

It is the second edition of a previous program that was hosted by the Dutch city of the Hague last December with the participation of experts from Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Libya.

Developed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, the Shiraka Training Program aims to support sustainable democratic transition in the Arabic region and will review the Dutch government's expertise in the field of communication between state institutions.

Dutch experts will, over a week, give their insights into best practices with social matters and means to deal with crises within a transparency-based scientific and professional manner.

The participants said the program is an opportunity to exchange expertise between participant countries.

They are also expected to visit a number of Jordanian public institutions to look at the Kingdom's expertise and challenges facing the country in light of regional conditions.

The Shiraka Training Program is an instrument for enforcement of bilateral relations between the Netherlands and eligible countries at government level.

The objective is to train senior public officials on matters relevant to furthering a sustainable transition in the Arab region. An important aim is to networks by bringing the participants together in the Netherlands. The program further aims to increase and improve the bilateral relations between Dutch line ministries and their colleagues in their respective countries.
