UNDP appoints new country director in Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The UNDP Jordan Country Office has announced the appointment of Ms. Sara Ferrer Olivella, as new country director, who already assumed her duties on January 23rd.

Ms. Ferrer Olivella, Spanish, worked for 16 years in the UN system in general and in UNDP in specific in the headquarters and some other countries. Her latest job was as the Regional Advisor for the United Nations Development group (UNDG) New York.

Sara Ferrer Olivella, who is a development practitioner with a political science background with an area of expertise in human rights and governance issues, holds an MA in Political Science and Public administration by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and a European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratization by the Inter-European University Center for Human Rights and Democratization (Italy).

Noteworthy, the UNDP, the main convener of sustainable development, was established in Jordan since 1976. UNDP upholds a vision focusing on the achievements of Sustainable Human Development in Jordan, ending poverty and reducing inequalities. UNDP is also at the heart of UN’s work on sustainable development and one of the leaders to achieve the new sustainable development goals (SDGs).
