Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Security personnel who were killed in the Karak security raid on Tuesday were laid to rest on Wednesday, as local and international condemnations of the terrorist attack poured in.

Public Security Department (PSD) personnel and thousands of Jordanians participated in the funeral of Officer Ahmad Oudat in Athroh, Maan.

Oudat was buried in his hometown of Athroh in a military funeral attended by senior officials and scores of citizens, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The fallen officer is one of four security personnel who died in the raid, which also resulted in 12 injuries.

Also on Wednesday, hundreds of Tafileh residents in Ain Al Beida took part in the funeral of Sgt. Khalil Dhrous of the Gendarmerie Department.

After the noon prayer, the PSD’s Sgt. Mihrib Rweili was laid to rest in Mafraq’s Rabieh neighbourhood, with the participation of several officials and citizens.

Moreover, gendarmerie Warrant Officer Mohammad Jizawi was buried in his hometown of Shajarah in Ramtha, Petra added.

In solidarity with Jordan, Jenin Governor Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ramadan in the West Bank announced that the governorate and the Jordan medical mission will open a condolences house for those who died in the Karak attacks.

In Ramallah, hundreds of Palestinians participated in a sit-in to solidarity with Jordan and express their rejection of the terror attacks that targeted Karak.

On Sunday, 10 security personnel and civilians died and 34 were injured in another terror attack.

Also in Ramallah, Palestinian popular movements, officials and religious figures organised a solidarity sit-in near the Jordanian embassy, and condemned the terror attack on security forces and civilians in Karak.

In Amman, the Muslim Brotherhood announced it will organise a march from Al Husseini Mosque downtown after Friday prayers to denounce the Karak terror attacks, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.

Meanwhile, Karak Tourism Director Jaafar Shihadeh said that tourism was back to normal in the southern governorate on Wednesday, and that owners of shops and restaurants near Karak Castle, the scene of Sunday’s terror attack, resumed their activities as usual.

Also on Wednesday, Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh visited the King Hussein Medical Centre and checked on the condition of those wounded in Sunday’s attack, praising the sacrifices by security personnel in defending the Kingdom.

Tarawneh also received cables of condemnations of the terror attacks from the head of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Nabih Birri, Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal, the chairman of the Palestinian National Council Salim Zanoun, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.

Several popular movements in Ajloun, Zarqa and Karak as well as Circassian institutions, professional associations and representatives of the tourist sector, also denounced the terror attacks in Karak.
