King meets Iraqi VP

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Monday, held talks with Iraqi Vice-President, Iyad Allawi, on the latest political and security developments in Iraq.

During the meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty stressed the importance of reconstructing Iraq's institutions, strengthening its unity and improve its political environment through involving all segments of the Iraqi society in the political process and stopping external interference in its affairs.

The meeting tackled the need to intensify Arab, regional and international efforts to combat terrorist organizations that threaten the security and stability of the world, as well as the importance of unifying positions to cooperate with the new US administration.

It also highlighted the need to work with the international community to achieve stability in Iraq and build a better future for its people.

His Majesty affirmed Jordan's full readiness to support Iraq through its presidency of the upcoming Arab Summit, saying all components of the Iraqi people should reach a common ground to build a better future.

Allawi commended Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty, in supporting Iraq in targeted efforts to maintain its unity and stability, and the fight against terrorist gangs.

The Iraqi vice president voiced his strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted public security, gendarmerie personnel, innocent civilians and a Canadian tourist in the southern city of Karak. He also offered his condolences to His Majesty, the Jordanian people and families of the martyrs and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
