King chairs meeting for National Policy Council

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday, said that Jordan is strong and capable of eradicating terrorism and criminal gangs, and that the Kingdom, with the unity and solidarity of its people as well as the army and security personnel , will confront all terrorist acts.

The King made the remarks as he chaired a meeting for the National Policy Council in the presence of His Majesty's Advisor and chairman of the council, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein and a number of senior civic and military officials.

He said that Jordan will respond with an iron fist to assaults or any attempts to tamper with the Kingdom's security and safety of its people.

During the meeting, which was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Rashed Bin Al Hassan, the King was briefed on the cowardly terrorist attack that was committed by a terrorist group against security agencies and civilians in the southern governorate of Karak.

His Majesty offered condolences over victims of the terror act, that included a number of security and gendarmerie personnel, innocent civilians as well as a Canadian tourist. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

King Abdullah voiced appreciation and pride in the courage of members of the public security and the gendarmerie, who did not spare an effort in defending the country and preserving its security and stability.

" National unity is the strongest way to counter terrorist schemes," he said, adding that such terror acts will not undermine our determination to fight the forces of evil and darkness.

The King stressed the importance of supporting security agencies in confronting criminals who target Jordan and its citizens.

Jordan, he added will continue its role in countering its enemies and those of Islam, and defending the image of Islam and its tolerant message.
