Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The National Accord Bloc, headed by MP Mazen Al Qadi, Tuesday met Prime Minister Hani Mulki as part of a series of encounters with parliamentary blocs to forge a partnership between the executive and legislative authorities.
The MPs aired their views on challenges posed to the Kingdom, foremost of which is the economy, urging the government to launch clear programmes to address poverty and unemployment.
They also called for a potent investment law to attract more capital by giving the necessary facilities to investors and directing investment to remote areas with a focus on development projects that "positively" reflect on local communities.
The lawmakers also called for raising the minimum wage, achieving social justice and promoting skilled manpower with the Gulf Arab countries to address unemployment and poverty, while urging no further burdens be imposed on the citizens.
Mulki told the bloc members that his government is fully committed to a real partnership with the Parliament, noting that the government statement currently being debated by the legislature is a "comprehensive" programme to face the challenges threatening the country.
"We find the solutions to these challenges together, government and parliament, as an embodiment of the participatory approach between the two authorities", he said at the meeting, which was attended by a number of ministers.
Mulki said that in its visits to the governorates and meetings with the citizens there, the government had pledged to achieve what it can with utmost integrity and transparency, noting that capital projects needed will be met through financial leasing, in a manner to "meet these needs and encourage the private sector to act for creating job opportunities".
The prime minister stressed that the government would only take measures that "positively" affect the national economy, denying any intention to lift the government subsidy on bread and animal fodder, or raise the tax on basic commodities, adding: "We look for advice from the House of Representatives on what is nationally needed to counter economic challenges".
