King receives Huawei CEO

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II Sunday received Deputy Chairman of the Board, CEO of Huawei, Guo Ping, at a meeting aimed to boost the pivotal role of information technology in the Kingdom.

The meeting at the Al Husainiah Palace also touched on the need to keep up with the rapid advancement in the information technology sector, besides Jordan's progress in this regard and its aspiration to merge with global digital markets.

The King praised Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, for its role to improve the telecommunications and information technology sector in Jordan through establishing capacity-building centers focused on training, planning, improving networks and empowering ICT-savvy people.

Guo appreciated Jordan's new "Reach 2025" initiative, which seeks to digitize the national economy and elevate the Kingdom to be within the ranks of advanced states in this field, namely China and European nations.

He said his company would serve as a platform for software companies and work to attract advanced applications to Jordan to enable the sector to keep abreast of up-to-date technologies and help to build smart cities.
