Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, Wednesday, attended the opening ceremony of the Middle East and North Africa Information and Communications Technology (MENA ICT) forum, dubbed "Digitizing the Economy."
Organized by the Information and Communications Technology Association (Int@J) in cooperation of communications ministry, the forum aims at developing the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom by moving towards a digital economy, placing Jordan among top countries in this domain.
The conference, being held at King Hussein Business Park, shed light on exponential levels of development seen in the IT domain which has an impact on sectors of education, healthcare, energy, transportation and logistics, financial services and media, among others.
Int@J's Chairman, Bashar Hawamdeh, appreciated King Abdullah's care for the IT sector, which mirrors the importance of it for the national economy.
"Digitizing economy is no longer a choice. It is a path to the future and the true way for human development ", said Hawamdeh.
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, and Minister of Public Sector Development, Majd Shweikeh said: "This exceptional forum came as the technology world witnesses endless shifts and rapid changes in the methods used for innovation, communication and the practice of various business activities."
The forum, which is convened biennially, aims also at building a vision related to the ICT sector in the Middle East region, as well as, enabling stakeholders in this sphere to get acquainted with state-of-the-art technologies in this field.
