Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) spokesman, Jihad Momani, said the body is fully ready and prepared to hold the parliamentary elections on Tuesday, September 20th.
In a press conference held on Sunday, Momani said the IEC has sent electoral process-related equipment, including sensitive materials, ballot manuals, the special electoral ink, voting boxes and stationery to all constituencies.
He added the 80,000 people will be running the vote, including members and heads of committees and assistants, among them more than 10,000 volunteers.
Momani noted that the number of constituencies in the Kingdom is 23, polling centers (1483) while ballot boxes will be (4883). He indicated that that the number of eligible voters is 4,130,145 million; 53 percent of whom are women.
He also said that 14,000 local observers will monitor the vote and they come from organizations and institutions that have experience in the field of elections, while the number of journalists accredited to cover the polls is more than 1700.
With regard to international observers, the IEC spokesman said the number has reached 676.
As for the Electoral Silence, Momani said it will start midnight at 12:01 a.m Monday, describing it as "necessary" not only for the voter, but also for the IEC, which needs time to focus on issues of more importance.
