Planning minister urges Japan to extend more support to Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, on Monday, called on the Japanese government to extend additional support to Jordan to bolster its budget and fund development projects in light of massive pressures arising from the Syrian refugee crisis.

During a meeting with Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Kentaro Sonora, Fakhoury commended the support Japan already provides to the Kingdom, stressing that the whole international community is demanded to help Jordan which bears the burdens of hosting a massive number of refugees on its territory on behalf of the world.

Fakhoury also spoke about the Kingdom's economic reform programs despite challenges imposed by regional turmoil.

The Japanese minister stressed Jordanian-Japanese relations, saying Jordan is playing a pivotal role to bring about peace and stability in the Middle East. He also said his country remains committed to supporting Jordan to enable it overcome the current difficult challenges.
