Pope Tawadros II opens St. Anthony Monastery in Madaba

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, the leader of Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church, currently on a visit to Jordan, on Sunday opened the St. Anthony Monastery in Madaba, some 30 kilometers southwest of Amman.

The foundation stone of the monastery was laid by late Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria in 2005.

Pope Tawadros II also visited Mount Nebo where he was briefed about the historical and religious importance of this place as a destination for Christian pilgrims.
