27-08-2016 09:50 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulqi Saturday paid an inspection tour of the sports facilities at the Al Hussein Youth City, which will host the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Jordan 2016.

Mulqi, accompanied by Minister of Youth Rami Wreikat and State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani, checked on the preparedness of the Amman International Stadium for the opening of the tournament, which will be held in the Kingdom from 30 September to 21 October.

The youth minister briefed the premier about his ministry's plans to organise the international sporting event, including the rehabilitation of sports facilities in Amman, Irbid and Zarqa as demanded by FIFA, the world football governing body.

Meantime, the prime minister approved the youth minister's proposal to move the ministry's headquarters after the tournament from the current premises to a new building that had recently been constructed opposite the Amman stadium's main gate.

Mulqi said the transfer process from the old chartered building should undergo the "necessary administrative steps" in line with the government's strategy to cut the rent expenses of chartered government buildings.

The tournament will be the first female world cup in the region.
