Cabinet approves establishing hospital in Aqaba

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Cabinet, on Wednesday, gave the go-ahead for establishing a Public hospital in the southern city of Aqaba, through a partnership between the public and private sectors.

Aqaba is the only governorate that doesn't have a Government-run hospital and the decision was made because of its increasing population as well as the city's economic and tourism importance.

In a cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki, the government approved a $20-million grant agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, to support the Syrian refugees crisis response plan.

The cabinet also endorsed a JD20-million memorandum of understanding with Britain and Northern Ireland to support the government's education program for Jordanian and Syrian students.

In the meeting, the government also approved an agreement with Russia on mutual exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official and service passports, under which citizens of the two states who hold these passports will be allowed to enter, depart, transit and reside in both states territories without a visa for a period not exceeding 90 days.

The cabinet also approved a cooperation agreement with Pakistan in the field of civil protection and civil defense.

The cabinet approved another two Memoranda of Understanding with the Chinese Standardization Committee Administration and the Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology (JISM).
