Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven took part in a dialogue on opportunities for Jordanian and Syrian youth to make a living, which was organized by an Amman community centre.
The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) had established the Tarabot (together) Social Center in Amman to provide sustainable solutions to address the effects and challenges that face both Jordanians and Syrian refugees in the Kingdom as a result of the Syrian crisis.
The Swedish premier said in opening remarks that he is visiting Jordan to see first-hand some of the repercussions of the war in Syria and listen to the stories of people.
"With the passage of time in the crisis, education has become neglected, however, it is necessary that the children and youth continue their education, and that the adults should find suitable jobs, as they need to go forward, and this reflects positively on the Jordanian society" Lofven added.
"The global community should not allow a few countries to bear the brunt of the Syrian crisis", said the premier, adding that a shared responsibility is needed.
DRC Middle East and North Africa Director, Peter Klansoe, said such a discussion is vital at the centre which serves around 1,000 people per month.
The dialogue also tackled ways to ensure work standards and areas that need increased investment to promote economic development for Jordanian and Syrian youth.
