Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) Tuesday started receiving applications from candidates willing to run for upcoming parliamentary polls, slated for September 20.
IEC Spokesperson Jihad Momani said 106 applications from candidate lists, including 29 in the various districts of the capital Amman, had been received until 10:45a.m.
Momani explained that following the initial acceptance of an application, candidates running on one ticket must open a shared bank account with a limit not exceeding the maximum amount to be spent on campaigns as set by the IEC for the various constituencies.
The aim, he said, is to control spending in campaigns as endorsed by the IEC in executive instructions pertaining to electoral propaganda.
