15-08-2016 02:53 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday, met with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and discussed with him ties between Jordan and the Scandinavian nation and a number of Middle East issues.

King Abdullah told the Swedish prime minister that Jordan is keen to promote relations with Sweden in various fields and explore new horizons of cooperation.

His Majesty called for building on talks held yesterday between Lofven and Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki and urged Sweden to seize investment opportunities the Jordanian economy offers, especially in areas of energy, information technology and electronics.

The King also expressed appreciation of the role Stockholm played during a donors conference held earlier this year in London to rally support for Syrian refugees and host countries, including Jordan.

The talks, held over a luncheon banquet hosted by His Majesty the King in honor of the Swedish Prime Minister, tackled regional and international developments.

His Majesty expressed hope that key international actors, including Sweden, which has recently been selected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, would support efforts to find solutions to issues facing the Middle East and the world.

The meeting also underlined the need to intensify international efforts, within a holistic strategy, to counter extremism and terrorism.

The Swedish prime minister expressed his country's appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, in dealing with various issues, and King Abdullah's continuous efforts to bring about peace in the region and promote international peace and security.

He also voiced his country's support for the Kingdom's stances in confronting terrorism along with various players, regionally and internationally, and its efforts in providing relief services to Syrian refugees.
