Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Wael Arabiyat, Monday, denounced as "vicious" the recent Israeli assaults against the Al Aqsa Mosque.
He expressed his 'complete rejection' of storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif compound by more than 400 extremist settlers under 'tight and unprecedented protection of Israeli police and special forces'.
In a press release, the minister also censured Israeli police for breaking into the Al Aqsa mosque Monday dawn and the storming of ultra-Orthodox Jewish settlers of the holy shrine, inside which they stayed until 10 am this morning.
"It is a blatant challenge to the feelings of Muslims and a clear violation of international law and norms", the minister described assaulting and arresting the worshippers and the Talmudic rituals the settlers performed in the mosque.
Arabiyat also 'saluted' the steadfast brethren of the Al Aqsa mosque, youth and worshippers who stood up against the viscous raids.
He called on the Arab League, Organization of the Islamic Conference and the United Nations organizations to pressure Israel to stop its recurrent violations and 'failed attempts' to change the status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
The minister also warned that the continuation of such violations will trigger a religious war which His Majesty King Abdullah II had repeatedly warned against.
