Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The second Sharia judicial conference opened here Sunday to discuss in-depth research and studies on matters that sharia courts deal with, and to try to find solutions to a host of issues and problems concerning the family.
Deputizing for HRH Crown Prince Hussein, HRH prince Asem Bin Nayef opened the two-day conference, in which a number of elite scholars, intellectuals and researchers from Jordan and Arab and foreign countries are taking part.
The conference, held under the title "leadership and justice", seeks to identify the sharia judiciary system and clarify the leading role of Islamic jurisprudence in dealing with modern developments, and adopt scientific and practical recommendations on the relevant topics.
The conference focuses on four topics, including the role of the public prosecution in sharia law in protecting the family and child, sharia blood money, the influence of medical experience in issuing verdicts and family accommodation matters.
Chief Islamic Justice Ahmad Hlayel said in remarks that Islam had set the rules for litigation and the performance of a judge to achieve justice without bias or discrimination, noting that the misleading practices of terrorist organisations had nothing to do with Islam whatsoever.
He noted His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts to upgrade the level of religious institutions, foremost of which is the Chief Justice Department, to achieve social justice and security.
Imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and Chairman of the Islamic Fiqh (jurisprudence) Academy in Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Saleh Bin Hmeid, highlighted the role of the conference in achieving social security.
