Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King's military adviser, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab army, Gen. Meshaal al Zabin, held a series of meetings with foreign delegations in the attendance of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal.
The army chief welcomed general commander of the Libyan armed forces Gen. Khalifa Haftar for a discussion of developments in the region and a number of issues of interest to the armed forces of the two countries.
Zabin also welcomed United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative to Jordan, Andrew Harper, at the end of his tour of duty, and discussed the Syrian refugee crisis and the "difficult" conditions in the region.
The army chief also met with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, Edward Calon, and talked about economic and security challenges imposed by the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan.
Zabin and Calon agreed that the humanitarian role of the various UN agencies required safe borders of refugee host countries and a collective effort by the international community to secure the necessary aid for services offered to the refugees "in a manner to safeguard the security of countries affected by the Syrian refugee crisis".
