Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister Salamah Hammad, said the country's higher national interests require handling the security aspect with paramount importance in light of the lawlessness in some regional countries.
The minister stated in a press release on Monday that terrorist organizations took over civil status offices in war-weary countries, prompting further security scanning for those who are willing to visit Jordan.
Medical tourism is being used as a pretext to come to the Kingdom by some groups who have "other aims and objectives", said Hammad. The minister also said those who want to visit the country for medical tourism purposes, including Yeminis and Libyans, will have to submit a visa application to the Interior Ministry and the applicant would receive an answer in a period of 48 hours unless there are security reasons that prevent that.
With regard to Sudanese wishing to come to Jordan for medical tourism, Hammad said that it was decided that the visas be granted by the Jordanian embassy in Khartoum based on a letter addressed by the Sudanese government that illustrates the need of a patient for treatment in Jordan.
