Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will present a JD27.9 million under a Grant Protocol Agreement to support the Jordan Response Plan (JRP) to the Syrian crisis, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, announced Saturday.
The minister said in a press release that the signed protocol is directed to support the Ministry of Education to provide quality services to children affected by the Syrian crisis.
"The agreement comes within the framework of a project to address priorities within the 2016-2018 JRP, and to follow-up on the outcome of the London (donor) conference", said Fakhoury.
He explained that the project aims to create, maintain and expand play spaces in the ministry's schools, purchase equipment and furniture, pay teachers and build their capacity as well as cover other administrative expenses.
The project, he added, aims to provide the potentials to draw up policies and plan for quality and safe education and improve education quality through development of skills for education service providers (teachers and administrative and field staff).
Pledges made to Jordan at the London conference amounted to $700 million of annual grants for three years, $2.1 billion in total, as well as raising the financing ceiling at the rate of $1.9 billion annually for three years, a total of $5.7 billion.
