New Jordanian government sworn in

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A Royal Decree was issued on Wednesday approving the formation of a new government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Hani Mulki.

The Prime Minister and cabinet were sworn-in before King Abdullah II at Raghadan Palace in the Royal Hashemite Court on Wednesday in the presence of and King's Advisor for Military Affairs and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mashal Mohammad Al Zaben, the intelligence director , the director of his Majesty office and advisors of King Abdullah II.

Following is the lineup of the new Cabinet:

1) Hani Mulki: Prime Minister and Minister of Defence
2) Jawad Ahmad Anani: Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply
3) Mohammad Mahmoud Thneibat: Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs and Minister of Education
4) "Mohammad Nasser" Sami Judeh: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs
5) Salamah Hammad : Minister of Interior
6) Hazim Kamal Al Nasser: Minister of Water and Irrigation
7) Adel Issa Tweisi: Minister of Culture
8) Musa Habis Al Maayteh: Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State
9) Imad Najib Fakhoury: Minister of Planning and International Cooperation
10) Ali Thahir Ghazawi: Minister of Labour

Prime Minister Hani Mulki sent a letter to the King in reply to the letter of designation in which he pledged to fulfill content of the King's letter and implement His Majesty's directives.

Mulki said that the government will do its utmost and provide all facilities to the Independent Elections Commission ( IEC) to hold free and transparent elections.

The government, he added, will also issue all regulations needed to implement the Decentralization Law and take all necessary measures to enable the IEC to prepare for elections of governorates' councils next year. "This low comes within Your Majesty's vision to expand public participation in the process of approving development plans and priorities in governorates, " the premier added.

The prime minister said that the government will be committed to taking measures and administrative reforms to enhance the rule of law and enable government leaderships to achieve the needed change, justice and equal opportunities.

"The government will also work to develop and activate the performance of the government apparatus and accomplish the e-government project to serve citizens, and ensure the highest degree of integrity and transparency," Mulki added.

The government, he said, is aware of the repercussions of the current situation in the region on the Kingdom's economy, noting that achieving higher growth rates, improving competitiveness of the national economy and creating job opportunities, are a top priority that requires integrated measures that reflect Jordan's "2025 Vision" for the economy.

"The government will also follow up on the implementation of economic reforms and strategies including the strategy of employment, and review other legislations to stimulate growth, develop the business and investment environment and protect the state's financial and monetary stability.

The prime minister also pledged that the government will accelerate the pace of work to hold meetings of the Saudi-Jordanian Coordination Council to forge solid economic ties between the two countries.

On the Syrian refugee crisis, Mulki said the government will work with the international community to ensure that the Kingdom will receive the support it deserves due to the humanitarian role it plays towards the Syrian refugees. "The government will also follow up on the London Donor Conference to secure the necessary aid to Jordan to enable it to provide basic needs to the refugees.

Regarding poverty and unemployment, the prime minister said that they represent the biggest challenge facing out country, adding that this requires the implementation of development plans in all governorates to job opportunities.

On health sector, Mulki said the government will work to develop health care and computerize this sector to improve health services offered to citizens.

"The government will also continue the implementation of the energy sector strategy, diversify energy resources, liberalize the fuel market and carry out mega project in this sector," he added. On the water, sector, Mulki said the government will work to protect our water resources and find alternative ones through the implementation of strategic project including the Red Sea-Dead Sea Canal Project and other projects.

The government, he said, will also accelerate the implementation of projects in the railway and public transport sectors to provide better services to our citizens.

Mulki highlighted the need for plans and solutions to support the tourism sector, and enable it to overcome obstacles facing it as this sector is a major contributor to the national economy.

The premier also voiced his government's keenness to give utmost attention to the youth and women sectors due to their important role in the development process.

The government, he added, will also continue cooperation and coordination with the judicial authority to develop the judiciary and enable it to perform its noble message.

On foreign policy, Mulki said Jordan will continue to build on its stances on various issues through its diplomacy that is respected at all international forums. "The government will also continue its support to the Palestinian issue to enable the Palestinians to establish their independent state on the their national soil. "The government will also give special attention to the holy sites in Jerusalem stemming from the historical and religious responsibilities shouldered by His Majesty," he added.

Mulki said the government will also continue its efforts to counter terrorism and the Khawarij, protect our religion and its values and provide all support to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and security agencies.

He pledged his government will do its utmost to serve the country and its citizens.
