Jordan's press freedoms status stands at "average to good": Watchdog

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - An annual report on the status of press freedoms in Jordan indicated that they range between "average to good" while self-censorship remained high among journalists who said they consider it as a basis for their work.

The report, issued by the Center For Defending Freedom of Journalists, said the 30.6 of those surveyed described the status of press freedoms in the Kingdom as "acceptable" while 36.6 per cent said they range between "average to good". Furthermore, about 30.7 per cent of the report community said media-related laws had no influence on press freedom while 10.4 per cent indicated otherwise. According to the report, about 98.2 per cent of the surveyed journalists said they were not arrested or put to trial for any issue related to their work.
